Reed Hastings is the co-founder of Netflix and he credits part of his entrepreneurial spirit to his time in the Peace Corps. He was a Volunteer in Swaziland from 1983 through 1985, serving in the educational sector with local schools and programs.
Mae Jemison became the first African American woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor. She was a Volunteer in Sierra Leone and Liberia 1983 through 1985, serving as a medical officer.
Suzanne Preston Blier currently serves as Allen Whitehill Clowes Professor of Fine Arts and Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. She was a Volunteer in Benin from 1969 through 1971.
Drew S. Days III served as the first African American Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division and was an American legal scholar who served as Solicitor General of the United States. He was a Volunteer in Honduras from 1967 through 1969.
